Don't Be A Turkey!

Compost Those Food Scraps!

Did you know that food soiled paper, all food (including bones, shellfish and egg shells), fats and grease can go in your compost cart? So make sure your turkey ends up in the compost after Thanksgiving! ??

Also, try and buy only what you need, make sandwiches and soup after the holiday, and freeze leftovers...

If your waste collection service falls on Thanksgiving, your trash, recycling and compost will be picked up the following day and service will be a day later than normal for the rest of that week. Learn more at: https://naparecycling.com/thanksgiving-collection-schedule/

Another Successful
America Recycles Day!

On Sunday, November 13th, the City and County sponsored a coat, costume and shoe drive in celebration of America Recycles Day (ARD) at Redwood Plaza Shopping Center. The day was very successful and collected many coats, sweaters, costumes and shoes that will help so many in need.

This year, the event collected:
744 coats
100 sweaters
75-100 costumes
1,170 pairs of shoes

The collected Halloween costumes will become part of the City’s Halloween costume exchange next year. The Salvation Army received the coats and sweaters and will distribute them to needy families over the next few weeks. The collected shoes will be shipped to a non-profit organization called “Soles4Souls” (see www.soles4soles.org for more information) that distributes used shoes to disaster victims and/or disadvantaged people in this country and abroad.

Well done, Napa!

Outdoor Dining Updates

The City of Napa made further strides to extend the temporary Napa Al Fresco parklets program into a permanent dining option for local businesses at the November 15, 2022, Council Meeting. The parklets program, which enables business owners primarily in the downtown area to utilize the public parking space in the street in front of their business once they’ve installed a platform that levels the area with the sidewalk, will be rolled out later this fiscal year (FY).

While many details of the new permanent program are still in development, the City cemented the program’s future at the Council Meeting with the approval of the Outdoor Dining Fee.
