Napa Lighted Art Festival

January 21 - February 19, 2023

Monday – Thursday 6-9pm Friday – Sunday 6-10pm

The Napa Lighted Art Festival is a celebration of creative arts, technology and lights, and supports innovative techniques using light and light technologies as a growing art medium.  This walkable outdoor experience is FREE in downtown Napa featuring 10 lighted art installations. Lantern Making Workshop

Wednesday, February 8th 4-6pm 
Napa Senior Center

Join the City of Napa Public Art program and Children's Museum Napa Valley for our hands on Lantern Making Workshop to prepare for the Napa Lighted Art Festival Lantern Parade! Lantern making supplies will be provided at this workshop and you are also welcome to bring your own supplies. This workshop is guaranteed fun for the entire family: children, teens, adults and older adults are all welcome! The Lantern Parade will take place at 6:30pm Saturday, February 11th at Veterans Park. Advanced registration is preferred for the workshop. More information about the Lantern Parade and the Lighted Art Festival can be found HERE.

Senior Scholarships!

Great news! Scholarships are now available for classes at the Senior Center for Napa residents ages 55 and up.  The scholarships will pay the registration fees for any class up to a maximum of $500 per household. To qualify applicants must show their household makes below the median income for the City of Napa (under $55,650 for 1 to up to $79,500 for a household of 4). Applicants must also reside within the City of Napa and be able to provide a current proof of residency. Get Your Wiggles Out

Starting February 27th!

This NEW class is for 3-5 year-olds (TK and Pre-K eligible) accompanied by a parent/guardian. We will do easy and fun movement, breathing and sounding that helps us get our wiggles out! Each class will also end with a brief, guided experience that brings calm. These body-based methods are great for helping move big energy, antsy-ness, frustrations, anxieties or fears in playful and safe ways. They also help grown-ups feel restored, relaxed and more balanced. One adult is required to attend this class with the child enrolled. Lifeguard Training

February 17th - 19th

Take our Lifeguard training and walk away with all the certifications necessary to start a job as a professional lifeguard. Through videos, group discussion, and hands on practice, you'll learn teamwork, rescue and surveillance skills, First Aid, CPR/AED, and other skills needed to work as a lifeguard. The course fee includes Red Cross certification in Lifeguard Training, First Aid, and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer. Advanced registration is required.

Classic Italian Luncheon

February 21st, 11:30am-1pm

Every month the Senior Center provides a free delicious catered meal and is a great way to meet new friends or connect with old friends. This month we will serve a delicious soup and sandwich combo and lunch will be held on January 17th. Meals are served at 11:30am; please register one week in advance in order for us to place our order with the caterer.

Special Needs Programs are back!

We are so excited to bring back our special needs programs! Our next event will be a Valentine's Dance on Friday, February 17th from 6:30-8:30pm. Our programs are designed for participants 16 years and older and may attend with a parent/guardian, caregiver, aide, etc. Registration for these programs will include the activity, refreshments (or meal if listed as part of the activity). We host the Annual Childhood Expo every year to make sure parents have the opportunity to get their questions answered. The Napa Moms Expo is FREE and is open to the public. Summer Camp Registration is Open!

Parks and Recreation offers a variety of camps to keep your child active and engaged during the summer break. 

Camp Napa (age 5-9) Las Flores Community Center

Our superstar staff will make sure your campers have the best time at Camp Napa. Activities will include theme days, fun games and songs about healthy habits, art and craft projects and games focusing on our natural resources, hot day water play and so much more. Great Outdoors Camp (age 7-12) Kennedy Park

At this camp located at one of the City's largest parks, campers will spend time learning about nature as they hike with new friends, build forts, learn archery, play games and enjoy arts and crafts activities. Find out more and register for Great Outdoors here.

Adult Social Sports

Bocce League

Looking to get out of the house and play Bocce with some of your friends? Then look no further, our Bocce league has the right amount of competition while being fun and social at the same time. Games are played Wednesday or Thursday nights at the CIA at Copia. Find out more and register here.

Cornhole League 

Grab your team and come toss around some beanbags in the best yard in Napa at CIA at Copia. We are back this Spring for our most popular social sports league. Games will be played Thursday nights beginning at 6pm. Register for cornhole here.

Join Napa-Solano Audubon and a Park Ranger for a bird walk for younger birders. What are raptors? What are the most common raptors in the Napa Valley? Learn the top 5 most spotted hawks and falcons in the area and some easy tips to identify them.Register here.

Little Nature Explorers

Westwood Hills Park

Nature exploration and play significantly impacts all aspects of preschool child development. Everything from physical, cognitive, and even social and emotional benefits have been found. This program, lead by a Napa City Park Ranger, focuses on all those benefits through stories, songs, hands-on activities and nature exploration walks, all designed to cultivate your child’s love for the outdoors. Register here.

Trancas Crossing Park

During this hike you’ll learn why the area is known as Trancas and about the early Mexican Ranchos. Let your imagination run as you envision the early Riverboats and tanneries that once lined the Napa river. We are in search for a leader to join our Preschool Team who is committed to families and their young children. Our Preschool Assistant Teacher (Part-Time) is responsible for daily operations of preschool programs for 2-5 years olds. Apply here.

Recreation Program Managers

The Recreation Division is looking to hire 3 Program Managers in the areas of Seniors, Youth & Adult Sports and Special Events. You will assist in planning, implementing and oversight of programs as it relates to these specific areas. You will lead day-to-day operations, coordinate other part-time staff or volunteers, and assist with the development of programs. Not all jobs feel like work! Learn new skills, meet new friends, serve your community and get paid $17-$21 per hour). We will soon be hiring Lifeguards, Swim Instructors, Camp Counselors and Sports Recreation Leaders to lead our 2023 summer programs and we couldn't run these programs without amazing staff! Spring Garden Planning for Warm Weather, Summer

Color and Tool Care

February 25th 10am-12pm

Las Flores Community Center

Home gardeners will learn how to assess what is needed in the spring to prepare your landscape for the warmer weather. Garden cleanup needs, which plants require pruning, soil preparation and seed starting for summer color. We will also do a brief segment on tool care, both cleaning and sharpening. Though we will be indoors, we encourage attendees to dress warmly and be prepared for some outdoor activities, weather permitting. Space is limited; you must pre-register for February 25, 2023 here.

Health and Wellness Classes

The Department of Health and Human Services recommends at least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity, 75 minutes of vigorous aerobic activity per week, or a combination of moderate and vigorous activity. But even small amounts of physical activity are helpful. Being active for short periods of time throughout the day can add up to provide health benefits.
