Napa Lighted Art Festival

January 21 - February 19, 2023

Monday – Thursday 6-9pm Friday – Sunday 6-10pm

The Napa Lighted Art Festival is a celebration of creative arts, technology and lights, and supports innovative techniques using light and light technologies as a growing art medium.  This walkable outdoor experience is FREE in downtown Napa featuring 10 lighted art sculptures for 5 weeks. Projection artwork is back for the first 9 nights only. Bring the family and experience the magic of lighted art at the 2023 Napa Lighted Art Festival! Visit our website at: DoNapa.com/lights

Lantern Making Workshop

Saturday, January 28th 10am-1pm 
Napa Senior Center 

Join the City of Napa Public Art program and Children's Museum Napa Valley for our hands on Lantern Making Workshop to prepare for the Napa Lighted Art Festival Lantern Parade! Lantern making supplies will be provided at this workshop and you are also welcome to bring your own supplies. This workshop is guaranteed fun for the entire family: children, teens, adults and older adults are all welcome! The Lantern Parade will take place at 6:30pm Saturday, February 11th at Veterans Park. Advanced registration is preferred for the workshop. More information about the Lantern Parade and the Lighted Art Festival can be found HERE.

Junior Warriors

Hoops Season is back! It's time to lace up the basketball shoes and back in the gym. Registration for Junior Warriors (ages 8-12) is open until January 6. Junior Warriors will be held mid-January to mid-March with weekday practices/games along with some Saturday games. Scholarships are available. Senior Scholarships!

Great news! Scholarships are now available for classes at the Senior Center for Napa residents ages 55 and up.  The scholarships will pay the registration fees for any class up to a maximum of $500 per household. To qualify applicants must show their household makes below the median income for the City of Napa (under $55,650 for 1 to up to $79,500 for a household of 4). Applicants must also reside within the City of Napa and be able to provide a current proof of residency. For more details, pick up a scholarship application at the Napa Senior Center at 1500 Jefferson Street or call (707) 255-1800. Thank you to the Las Amigas 4H group for their contribution to the Senior Center scholarship fund!

Boot, Scoot & Boogie!

Looking for a way to boost your memory skills, get a little exercise, and meet new friends?  Line Dance might be just what you’re looking for!  Thursdays at 11am Susan Dodge teaches an Intermediate class.  If you need a Beginner class then check out our Thursday 6pm Beginning Line Dance with Lois Butler.  Either class will provide a fun workout for your body and mind! Find out more and register here.

Get Fit in 2023

If you want to kick off your day with exercise then check out Get Fit with Kristin. In every class you will get your heart rate up and increase your strength, flexibility and balance! Each class includes cardio, weights, bands and chair work and is great for all fitness levels. Kristin Ranuio is a fitness professional with over 20 years’ experience and her exuberant fun personality is a great way to start the day. Find out more and register here.

Soup & Sandwich Luncheon

Every month the Senior Center provides a free delicious catered meal and is a great way to meet new friends or connect with old friends. This month we will serve a delicious soup and sandwich combo and lunch will be held on January 17th. Meals are served at 11:30am; please register one week in advance in order for us to place our order with the caterer.

Special Needs Programs are back!

We are so excited to bring back our special needs programs! We are kicking off 2023 with Brunch at Huckleberry's on Saturday, January 28th at 11:00am. Our programs are designed for participants 16 years and older and may attend with a parent/guardian, caregiver, aide, etc. Registration for these programs will include the activity, refreshments (or meal if listed as part of the activity). Summer Camp Registration Opens January 9th

Parks and Recreation offers a variety of camps to keep your child active and engaged during the summer break. 

Camp Napa (age 5-9) Las Flores Community Center

Our superstar staff will make sure your campers have the best time at Camp Napa. Activities will include theme days, fun games and songs about healthy habits, art and craft projects and games focusing on our natural resources, hot day water play and so much more. Great Outdoors Camp (age 7-12) Kennedy Park

At this camp located at one of the City's largest parks, campers will spend time learning about nature as they hike with new friends, build forts, learn archery, play games and enjoy arts and crafts activities. Find out more and register for Great Outdoors here.

Adult Social Sports Bocce League

Looking to get out of the house and play Bocce with some of your friends? Then look no further, our Bocce league has the right amount of competition while being fun and social at the same time. Games are played Wednesday or Thursday nights at the CIA at Copia. Find out more and register here.

Junior Audubon and Ranger Hikes

Amazing Acorn Woodpeckers

Trancas Crossing Park

Join Napa-Solano Audubon and a Park Ranger for a bird walk for younger birders. What do woodpeckers and other year-round bird species do to survive the winter? Trancas Crossing Park is home to many species of birds that stay in our area for the winter. Learn how Acorn Woodpeckers and other birds find food during the winter months.

Little Nature Explorers

Westwood Hills Park

Nature exploration and play significantly impacts all aspects of preschool child development. Everything from physical, cognitive, and even social and emotional benefits have been found. This program, lead by a Napa City Park Ranger, focuses on all those benefits through stories, songs, hands-on activities and nature exploration walks, all designed to cultivate your child’s love for the outdoors. Register HERE.

Not all jobs feel like work! Learn new skills, meet new friends, serve your community and get paid $17-$21 per hour). We will soon be hiring Lifeguards, Swim Instructors, Camp Counselors and Sports Recreation Leaders to lead our 2023 summer programs and we couldn't run these programs without amazing staff! UC Master Gardeners Education Series

Garden Ergonomics: “Using the Right Tool the Right Way.”
We will provide home gardeners with information about proper body mechanics and ergonomic tools they can use while working in their garden. Attendees will learn how to avoid common gardening habits or activities that are potential Risk Factors for ergonomic injuries. The goal of the class is to help home gardeners effectively pick the right tool and then use that garden tool correctly to minimize mechanical injury to themselves.
Our presenter, UC Master Gardener Bob Niklewicz is a physical therapist with 50 years of patient care experience. He has a Doctorate in Health Science and is a certified ergonomist with over 30 years of teaching experience. He was a clinical professor at UCSF and Director of Education for the Back School of Atlanta. He is currently the CEO of the Ergonomic consulting company, “Ergocation LLC.” Preregistration is required. Register HERE.

Winter Health and Wellness Classes

The Department of Health and Human Services recommends at least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity, 75 minutes of vigorous aerobic activity per week, or a combination of moderate and vigorous activity. But even small amounts of physical activity are helpful. Being active for short periods of time throughout the day can add up to provide health benefits.
