City Of Naperville Fire Department News - Structure Fire 1100 Block of Needham Road

At 2022 hours on Tuesday, February 7th, Naperville’s Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) received a call for the structure fire in a two-story, single-family home located in the 1100 Block of Needham Road. Resident reported returning home to find the entire house filled with smoke. Naperville 911 (PSAP) dispatched a general alarm assignment consisting of 10 pieces of fire apparatus and 24 personnel including an Incident Commander and Incident Safety Officer to the reported address.

At 2029 hours, Engine 1 arrived on scene and found smoke in the residence with fire at the exterior, rear of the residence. Fire companies ensured all residents were out of the home and then quickly stretched several hose lines to contain the fire. At 2043 hours, the fire was reported as under control. Fire companies remained on the scene another hour to ensure all hot spots were extinguished.

The Naperville Fire Department was assisted on the scene by the Naperville Police Department, Red Cross, Nicor, and Naperville Electric. The Wheaton and Plainfield Fire Departments provided coverage to the city during the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation. There were no injuries to any occupants or firefighters while operating on scene. The building was deemed to be uninhabitable. The blaze is estimated to have caused $150,000 in damages.
