City Of Naperville - NPD And NFD : Naperville’s Annual Public Safety Open House Set for September 17

NAPERVILLE, Ill. — The Naperville Police and Fire Departments invite all residents to attend the annual Public Safety Open House taking place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17, at Naperville’s Public Safety Campus, 1380 Aurora Ave.

Bring the whole family for this fun and educational day full of safety information, activities and demonstrations by Naperville’s finest. Demonstrations are scheduled to begin around noon and include a water rescue in Lake Osborne and a training exercise in which a helicopter lands (currently scheduled for 1:30 p.m.) and emergency personnel perform an auto extrication with a simulated intoxicated driver arrest. In addition, the Naperville Police Department’s K9 unit will showcase its talents, and firefighters will demonstrate just how quickly a fire spreads with a flashover fire demonstration. The demonstration schedule is subject to change.

During this free event, participants will also have the chance to view and interact with police and fire equipment and vehicles, take home fire safety and crime prevention information, and meet Sparky the Fire Dog and McGruff the Crime Dog, among other activities. The open house will also feature food trucks with food available for purchase from approximately 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
