Tickets on sale for Sweetheart Ball

The Colony Parks and Recreation Department is hosting its 18th annual Sweetheart Ball on Saturday, Feb. 18, at the Cascades Events Center. Arrive in your semi-casual attire and dance the night away amid sparkling tiaras and colorful balloons! Welcoming all daddies, father figures, etc. and their little angels (ages 3-12). Tickets are $35/couple; $10/additional child for same dance time. There are two times to choose from: 5 to 6:30 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Light refreshments provided. Visit our website to get your tickets today! More than 30K attend 2022 LPGA event

In a show of gratitude for the city's support of the annual LPGA tournament, officials from Matthews Southwest attended The Colony City Council meeting on Jan. 3 and presented members with framed flags from this past year's event in The Tribute. Attention! Tax assistance through AARP will not be offered at The Colony Public Library this year. Click the photo to check online with AARP to locate the nearest sites, or use Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) for those with an income up to $60K/ year. Registration underway for Spring sports

Register today for Spring Youth Volleyball, Youth Flag Football, and/or Adult Kickball! Don't miss out on the fun. What else is In THE News?

- Portillo's Hot Dogs in The Colony is officially open! This marks the restaurant's first location in the state of Texas and they are "bun-believably" excited to be here. The new restaurant is in Grandscape at 4560 Destination Drive. Visit Portillo's on social media for more details.

- During its regular meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 17, The Colony City Council approved a contract with L.J. Design & Construction in the amount of $656,822 from CDC funds for construction of West Shore Park. Also on Tuesday, the Council approved a construction services contract with RoeschCo Construction in the amount of $403,925 for the Citywide Drainage Improvements ProjectClick here to view a replay of the meeting.

- The City of The Colony is currently accepting applications for city boards. Board members are appointed by the City Council to serve in a volunteer capacity. Applications for board positions will be accepted in the City Secretary’s Office for vacant positions on various boards. Information on the boards and the application form are available on the city’s website.

- Extreme heat during last year's summer and ongoing dry conditions have necessitated continued implementation of Phase 1 of the City's Drought Contingency Plan (PDF).
