From: Westfield Community Players

(Westfield, NJ) Debbie Lingel (Basking RIdge) will star as Sandra Markowitz in Westfield Community Players' third production of its 2014-2015 season,  the warm-hearted comedy, A Thousand Clowns by Herb Gardner. It is being directed by Steve Lemenille and produced by Garry Tamburro. The production opens March 7, 2015 and runs March 14, 21, 27, 28 at 8:00 PM with a matinee performance on March 22, 2015 at 3:00 PM.

A Thousand Clowns, a benchmark of Broadway comedy, produced one of the theatre's most beloved roles: unconventional Murray Burns, uncle to precocious nephew, Nick. Tired of writing cheap comedy gags for "Chuckles the Chipmunk", a children's television star, Murray finds himself unemployed with plenty of free time with which to pursue his...pursuits. Lectured by his conventional brother Arnold and hounded by "the system", Murray is paid a visit by bickering, uptight social workers, Sandra and Albert, and finds himself solving their problems as well as most of his own.

Debbie Lingel will be making her WCP debut with this production. She has appeared in various productions around NJ which include Sarah Brown (Guys and Dolls) at Playhouse 22, Amy (Company) and Johanna (Sweeney Todd) at Kelsey Theatre, Cecily Pigeon (The Odd Couple) at Main Street Theatre, Barbara (Night of the Living Dead) at The Growing Stage, Fantine (Les Miserables) at Villagers Theatre, and Nancy (Angel Street) at Somerset Valley Playhouse.
