From: Delray Beach Public Library

Did you know the Delray Beach Public Library has its very own audio recording studio, where library patrons are producing their own podcasts, audio books, rap beats, vocal tracks, and original instrumental music? While this may seem like it would be something out of the ordinary, it has become a trend among libraries nationwide with recording studios in public libraries as diverse as Fayetteville, Pike’s Peak, St. Louis, and Brooklyn. Within Florida alone, Orange County, Hillsborough County, Broward County, Winter Park, and Delray Beach are all among those libraries providing their communities with free access to professional audio recording tools.

The facility at the Delray Beach Public Library was initially donated by the Walsh family and received significant equipment upgrades thanks to the Virginia and Harvey Kimmel Foundation as well as the Hasey Foundation. After eight years, it continues to be a very popular resource at the Library and remains a completely free service. For more information about the space and the available equipment, please check out https://www.delraylibrary.org/recording-studio/

Patrons interested in using the recording studio for their audio projects should have a valid Delray Beach Public Library card in good standing and must first attend a 30-minute orientation session. The orientation session can be scheduled at https://www.delraylibrary.org/recording-studio-orientation/ or by contacting Ben Kon at 561-819-6404 or [email protected].

Have a great week!
