From: City of Cupertino

The City of Cupertino’s Draft Housing Element has been submitted to the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) and is available for review at the link below. The City expects a response letter from HCD by the first week of May, which will identify the modifications HCD believes need to be made for the Housing Element to be substantially compliant with state law and certified by HCD.

Draft Housing Element

The Housing Element is a state-required element of the City’s General Plan. The Housing Element must be updated every eight years and includes goals, objectives, policies, and implementation programs that address the maintenance, preservation, improvement, and development of housing within the City. In addition, the Housing Element Update identifies sites appropriate for the development of new housing that would be available to households at all levels of income. The Housing Element Update also includes other amendments necessary to comply with recent changes in State law.
