From the Director:
Boom! Welcome to July!

Summer Reading is off to a thunderous start, with signups growing and take and make kits flying off the shelves. The custom trail mix prepared by our young hikers will keep us going strong through August, but if you're still hungry, sign up to make an Outdoor Solar Oven for your s'mores today, or make them in the microwave! Our Youth Scavenger Hunt has been rescheduled (see that thunder I mentioned above), and will now take place on July 6th.

Adults, kids, and teens can all participate in Summer Reading by reading the books of their choice, coming to programs, doing crafts, and signing up to win raffle prizes! All events and programs are free, of course. For all the details, see our Summer Reading Pages here and here.

As you may have seen in the news, the EWML is the recipient of a $50,000 ARPA grant courtesy of State Senator Velis. This funding--which was designed to help small organizations and businesses retain staff, continue core operations, handle deferred maintenance, and survive this rough economic time--means a great deal to our small library, and we are very glad to be able to put it right to work to serving the residents of Easthampton.

We are so thrilled that many of our youngest library users now have vaccine access. Due to the continued circulation of SARS-CoV-2 in our area, though, we will be continuing to require masking in the children's area and at all indoor programs (and offering outdoor alternatives!), because that allows us to provide our entire community with a vibrant and full library experience. It continues, but we continue to survive and thrive!

Thank you all for your vocal and joyful support of the library. For our full roster of July activities, keep reading, and check out our Calendar. We'll see you soon at the Library!
