From the Director:

Dear Library Patrons,

In my ten months here, I've heard from many residents of Easthampton who have strong opinions about the Library and its future. Now I'd like to hear from the rest of the City! If you haven't already, please take a moment to fill out our Community Feedback Survey. Then, please take a moment to forward this message to someone else, and ask them to fill it out by October 15th. If they need a paper version, let me know. If they need translation services, we'll help. Easthampton has about 16,000 residents, and this Library belongs to all of us. The Community Feedback Survey is one of the most important tools in our Strategic Planning process, and will help to shape the next five years and beyond here at the EWML. If that's not enough incentive, anyone who completes the survey can enter a raffle to win a $100 Easthampton Chamber gift card!

The Emily's Friends of the Library Book Sale will be on the Library lawn on Saturday, October 15. Fingers crossed for excellent weather, but we're on for rain or shine. Thank you to all who donated materials to the sale.

As hurricane season gets well underway, don't forget that our Saving Us! - Working Toward Climate Resilience series continues with Dr. Gary Yohe on Oct 3rd and Voices for Climate on Oct 17th, both at 7pm. Learn more and register at tinyurl.com/cpw-saving-us

On a more literary note, please join the Library and Meat for Tea as we welcome local authors Jane Yolen and Peter Tacy on Tuesday, October 25th, 6:30pm. Jane and Peter will read selections from "The Black Dog Poems" (pub. 2022), and other works, including pairs of poems written by them that they call "back and forth poetry".

We are partnering with the Easthampton Council on Aging to host a book discussion of This Time Tomorrow, by Emma Straub. Check out a copy of the book AT THE LIBRARY starting October 3rd. Read the book and drop-in for the discussion AT THE COUNCIL ON AGING on November 10th, at 1pm.

In the Youth Department, there are almost too many great October programs to count, and many of them are delicious! Graham cracker haunted houses?  Pumpkin mug cakes? Yes, please!
Not to mention Graphic Novel book clubFamily StorytimePokemon Clubparenting workshops on navigating online activity for children and teens...

Please remember that masking remains a requirement for all indoor programs--it's how we keep them safe and accessible!

For our full lineup of October activities, keep reading, and check out our Calendar. We'll see you soon at the Library!
