FAMILY PROGRAMS

Be Part of the Tiny Art Show
Beginning April 17, artists in first grade and up are invited to pick up a bag that contains everything needed to create two tiny 4x4 inch paintings. Bags will be available at every branch, while supplies last. Artwork is due April 29. Opening receptions will be celebrated Wednesdays, May 3 at the Weed Memorial & Hollander Branch and May 17 at Harry Bennett, both from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., and May 10 at the Main Library from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Family Storytimes

A participatory storytime for the whole family that includes songs, fingerplays, stories and movement activities. For ages 18 months to 5 years with an accompanying caregiver.

UConn Puppet Arts Presents: Ramayana: A Tale of Trees and Wood
Saturday, April 22 from 2 to 3 p.m.
Main Library, DiMattia Building
Dudley N. Williams, Jr. Auditorium
Reimagining of a great Indian epic, featuring shadow puppetry, live music and dance. Meet with puppets and performers following the performance. Ages 5 and older.

Outdoor Family Storytime
Thursday, April 20 from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m.
Weed Memorial & Hollander Branch
Themed storytime that features songs, fingerplays and movement activities.
Ages 18 months to 4 years with an accompanying caregiver.
This program is held weather permitting; participants should bring blankets and/or lawn chairs.

A Spanish-language experience featuring stories, music, movement and fun. Ages 1 to 4 with caregiver.

Babytime

Songs, rhymes, stories and more for babies up to 18 months with caregiver. Siblings welcome. Registration required.

Cuentos y Cantos Bilingual Storytime
Friday, April 21 from 11 to 11:30 a.m.
Harry Bennett Branch
Storytime featuring interactive readings, songs and activities in English and Spanish. Ages 2 to 5 with caregiver. Registration required.

April Showers Arts & Crafts
Saturday, April 22 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

What makes it rain? What causes thunder and lightning? We'll read books about stormy weather, then create a rainy-day painting to take home. Registration required.

Craft Series: Toolbox Workshop

Create a necklace, ring, bracelet or earrings using items you might find in a toolbox or at a hardware store. Registration required.

T-MAD Meeting
Friday, April 21 from 4:30 to 6 p.m.

Ann M. Sexton Board Room
Teens Making a Difference (T-MAD) advisory program, where you can learn about upcoming events, share reading suggestions and make a difference in the community. Participation counts as volunteer work. Pizza and other refreshments will be served. Grades 6 to 12. Registration required.

Ferguson Library's Teen Art Contest 2023
Exploring the Upcoming Summer Learning Program: Find Your Voice

Contest requirements:
Open to Stamford students in grades 6 to 13.
Entries should be easily reproducible on 8.5x11 white paper and must be labeled in the back with your name, address, phone number, email, school and grade. Computer-generated images are acceptable.
Entries are due by April 22.

The winner will receive a $50 gift certificate to Michaels, and the winning drawing will be displayed on all Summer Learning Club materials. Submit entries to the Youth Services Department at the Main Library, or mail to Steve Zampino, Ferguson Library, One Public Library Plaza, Stamford, CT, 06904.

Youth Enrichment Program: Reaching Our Communities Program (R.O.C.)
Saturdays May 6 to June 24 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
South End Branch
Applications are currently being accepted for the R.O.C. (Reaching our Communities) Program, a 6-week Saturday enrichment program for youth ages 12 to 18.

Presented in partnership with Hearts & Purpose, Inc. the program is designed to provide support and opportunities for Stamford teens and develop important skills and knowledge and includes a stipend. Applications are due by April 18.
