Halloween Concert for All Ages

It’s back! The Family-Friendly bi-annual Halloween Concert presented by Harmonium Choral Society and Grace Community Music on Saturday, October 29 at 7 p.m. at Grace Church, 4 Madison Ave. at Kings Rd., Madison NJ.  Admission is by freewill donation at the door to help defray costs. Please also bring a non-perishable food donation if you can.  The concert is appropriate for ages 3-300 and costumes are welcome. Reception follows.  For more information call 973-538-6969.

The concert will feature the Grace Church School Choirs (25 choristers ages 7-18), the teen a cappella ensembles The Gargoyles and The Daughters of Zion, the Harmonium Outreach Chorus, The New Jersey Youth Chorus Primo Coro, spooky organ music, and more. Filled with musical gems from Bach’s “Toccata in d minor” (organ pedals and keyboard projected on the wall) to the Rossini’s “Cat Duet.” The Grace School Choirs will sing some favorites including “Little Miss Muffet,” and “O Ye Badgers and Hedgehogs.” Harmonium selections include “Monster Mash” and Eliot Levine ’The Serpent” with audience participation. Combined finales include “Werewolves of London,” “Double Trouble” and “Music of the Night.”. It is appropriate for kids, but adults love it as well and costumes welcome.

Dr. Anne Matlack directs the choirs at Grace and Harmonium Choral Society, including the Outreach Chorus which is available to sing in the schools.  She holds degrees from Yale and Cincinnati Conservatory, and studied organ with David Mulbury and Charles Krigbaum. Special guest choir Primo Coro are the 3-5th grade girls’ ensemble from The New Jersey Youth Chorus (now part of Wharton Arts), directed by Trish Joyce.
