Mishpakha: Jewish History of Woonsocket
Opens Tuesday, May 16
The Museum of Work & Culture is proud to present Mishpakha: Jewish History of Woonsocket, a new, original exhibition celebrating local narratives of worship, entrepreneurship, and social life in Woonsocket’s Jewish community. The exhibition opens Tuesday, May 16 and will remain in the museum’s changing gallery until Saturday, August 26.

Beginning in the 1860s with the arrival of Woonsocket’s first recorded Jewish resident, the city became a hub for Jewish immigrants in Northern Rhode Island. Through arts and crafts, children’s books, and thought-provoking prompts, Mishpakha presents the history of the Jewish community in a way that will reach those deeply familiar with Judaism as well as those who are less knowledgeable about Jewish traditions.

Fortepiano Concert with Daniel Adam Maltz
Thursday, June 1, 6:00pm
Join the RIHS for an evening of classical music on Thursday, June 1 at 6pm as we welcome Viennese fortepiano player Daniel Adam Maltz!

Enjoy Haydn and Mozart’s piano works performed as they were intended to be heard — in a historic home on a period instrument. Playing in the ballroom of the Society’s Aldrich House in Providence, Maltz will utilize his background in historic performance to give guests an authentic 18th-century show.
