A Message from the Superintendent

Before we leave for Winter Break, District 153 wanted to send a heartfelt Season’s Greetings to our extended school district family. Working in an elementary school district, one is treated to so much musical joy at this time of year. We hope you, too, will enjoy this gift of music from our students (below).

Post-Winter Break COVID Testing

Classes resume on Monday, January 9, 2023, although we hope to see most of our students and staff on Wednesday, January 4th, for COVID testing. After our students and staff travel and celebrate with friends and family over the holidays, District 153 is offering this free test to help ensure we start the new year as safely as possible. Walk-in testing will be available for all current students and staff—not just those involved in the current take home SHIELD testing—from 9:00AM to 1:00PM in the James Hart gym.

Martin Luther King Day of Service

Looking ahead to 2023, District 153 once again will be honoring the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday with a Day of Service. Our schools have adopted three local service organizations to support with donations. Please look over the lists of needed donations below. If you’re able to contribute (maybe pickup items at post-holiday sales?), we will be collecting donations on Monday, Jan. 16 from 9:00AM to 12:00PM at James Hart. Thank you, in advance, for your support and generosity.

Have a safe, healthy and wonderful holiday season, and we look forward to greeting our students again in 2023.

Scott McAlister, Ed.D.
