HPU Earns Three No. 1 Rankings from U.S. News and World Report

#1 Best Regional College South, #1 Most Innovative, #1 for Undergraduate Teaching, Top 30 in the Nation for First-Year Experiences

HIGH POINT, N.C.,– High Point University continues to be recognized for its commitment to innovation and student success, earning three No. 1 rankings in the U.S. News & World Report’s 2024 “Best Colleges” edition – including the top spot for undergraduate teaching.

HPU has once again been named the No. 1 Best Regional College in the South in the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings, which were released today. This is the 12th consecutive year that the university has earned the prestigious distinction. In addition, HPU is ranked as the No. 1 Most Innovative Regional College in the South for the ninth year in a row.

As a reflection of HPU’s focus on stellar teaching, HPU is also named No. 1 for Best Undergraduate Teaching in Best Regional Colleges South.

In addition, HPU is named in the top 30 nationally (No. 27) for Best First-Year Experiences.

In the latest U.S. News & World rankings, HPU is honored as:

- No. 1 for Best Regional Colleges in the South

- No. 1 for Most Innovative, Regional Colleges in the South

- No. 1 for Best Undergraduate Teaching, Regional Colleges South

- No. 19 for Best Value Schools, Regional Colleges South

- No. 27 for Best First-Year Experiences in the Nation

The latest U.S. News & World Report rankings were released a little more than a month after HPU was named one of America’s best academic institutions in The Princeton Review’s “The Best 389 Colleges: 2024 Edition.” It is the seventh consecutive year that HPU was recognized as one of the nation’s top schools based on student reviews.

The Princeton Review also ranked HPU in the top 25 nationally in several other categories, including Best-Run Colleges (No. 11), Best Career Services (No. 13), and Most Beautiful Campus (No. 19). Earlier this year, The Princeton Review ranked HPU in America’s top 50 colleges for undergraduate game design.

HPU has achieved unprecedented growth since Qubein began leading a total transformation of the campus after taking office in 2005. The university welcomed the largest number of students in its history this fall, with approximately 6,040 students starting classes in August. Data collected by HPU in accordance with the National Association of Colleges and Employers standards shows 99% percent of the Class of 2022 were employed or furthering their education within 180 days of graduating, which is 14 points higher than the national average.
