Join us on December 2nd from 5-6 PM for an hour of social justice discussions with Author, Dr. Terrlyn Curry Avery at the Hygienic Art Gallery. She will read sections from her book, "Dismantling Racism: Healing Separation from the Inside Out," published by Liz Magnolia LLC.

ABOUT THE BOOK:

The word racism carries a heavy burden, and the thought of dismantling it has even more weight.

In Dismantling Racism: Healing Separation from the Inside Out,

Rev. Dr. Terrlyn Curry Avery tackles this subject with finesse and instills hope that it is possible to achieve racial equity. She leads the charge against fear, guilt, and shame that often comes with addressing racism and guides her readers through

the landmines of injustice. In Dismantling Racism, Rev. Dr. Curry Avery provides tools and insights that

can help you move beyond the symbolic gestures of racial equity as witnessed in the wake of George Floyd’s murder.

You are invited to fully commit to advocating for social transformation by going inward to connect with our own divine wisdom, a process she calls the sacred intelligence journey of faith. Each chapter offers strategies and reflection questions, plus a section on transforming racial narratives, all designed to help the reader stay focused on the work of racial diversity and inclusion.

AUTHOR BIO:

Rev. Dr. Terrlyn L. Curry Avery is the pastor of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Presbyterian Church in Springfield, Massachusetts. She is, particularly, passionate about healing the wounds of religion and dismantling racism and is a strong advocate for social justice.

Rev. Dr. Terrlyn L. Curry Avery is the creator of Pastology, the cutting edge field that focuses on the synergy between

pastoring and psychology. She holds a Ph.D. from Hofstra University and a Masters of Divinity fromYale University.

She calls herself a pastologist (licensed psychologist and ordained minister) and is a transformational leader, coach, speaker, author and retreat leader. Rev. Dr. Terrlyn L. Curry Avery has a unique approach to healing, transformation, and manifestation. She places the emphasis on the journey toward sacred intelligence: the ability to tap into one’s internal source in order to move toward intelligent choices. Those choices are intended to honor the Sacred and help the individual manifest their greatness, while simultaneously embracing the humanity of those around them.

In addition to pastoring, Rev. Dr. Terrlyn L. Curry Avery works with highly influential and committed leaders who need

spiritual, life, or career coaching as they transform the world by creating a legacy of service, prosperity,

and greatness. She also provides coaching support for leaders to help them understand how their sphere

of influence can help to change the status quo and to dismantle structures that have intentionally and unintentionally created racial disparities. Rev. Dr. Terrlyn L. Curry Avery has a long history of working with institutions, organizations, and communities to bridge the racial divide and to promote racial equity.

Rev. Dr. Terrlyn L. Curry Avery is the author of the newly released Dismantling Racism: Healing Separation From the Inside Out. Her first book is entitled, Sacred Intelligence: The Essence of Sacred, Selfish & Shared Relationships. She is the host of Dismantle Racism with the Rev. Dr. TLC which airs on talkradio.nyc.
