Important Information regarding Water and Tier 4 Restrictions

The Town of Scituate has implemented a Tier 4 water ban.  This is a total ban on all nonessential outside water use due to the current drought conditions and the strains being placed on our wells.  This includes lawn irrigation, watering of flowers, filling of pools, vehicle washing as well as boats.  The Water department is fining violators with fines as high as $300 a day.  Additional information can be found on the Scituate Water Division website here 

We all need to do our best to conserve water during these drought conditions.  As the drought worsens, the water tables supplying our wells continue to drop, lowering the output from those wells, making us more dependent on the water treatment plant. We encounter more manganese in the system because our aging Surface Water Treatment Plant (SWTP) wasn’t designed to treat manganese.
