Iowa Department of Public Safety News: DCI Assisting Norwalk Police With Death Investigation

Norwalk, lowa - Update: The Norwalk Police Department, in conjunction with the Division of Criminal Investigations, have charged Antonio Lavell Lewis, 38, with Murder in the 1st Degree, in relation to the death of Karisa Shendelman.

On September 15, 2022 at approximately 12:30 am, officers responded to an apartment at 608 Knoll Drive for a report of a stabbing. On arrival officers located Lewis inside the apartment. He was detained at that time and arrested on outstanding, unrelated warrants out of Marshall County. Officers then located Karisa Shendelman, deceased inside the apartment.

Lewis is currently being held on the charge of Murder in the 1st Degree and unrelated Marshall County charges.
