(Westfield, NJ) Jacob Lesser will star as Nick in Westfield Community Players' production of the warm-hearted comedy, A Thousand Clowns by Herb Gardner. It is being directed by Steve Lemenille and produced by Garry Tamburro. The production opens March 7, 2015 and runs March 14, 21, 27, 28 at 8:00 PM with a matinee performance on March 22, 2015 at 3:00 PM.

Although Jacob is making his WCP dramaric debut with this production of A Thousand Clowns,  he is not a stranger to WCP.  Jacob performed in WCP's Talent Show in 2012 singing and playing his guitar.  Most recently appeared at The Barn Theatre as Schwartz in the NJ Premier of A Christmas Story. Jacob is delighted to once again work with director Steve Lemenille, having been directed by Steve in To Kill A Mockingbird at UCPAC's Hamilton Stage this past fall playing the role of Jem.  Jacob is also playing The Genie in Aladdin Jr.  Other credits include: Winthrop in CDC's The Music Man for which Jacob was nominated for a NJACT Perry Award, Chatham's Christmas Cards (Marc/Fernando/Ukulele),  CDC's Oliver! (Workhouse/Fagin's Gang), and has worked with Pixie Dust Players, Merlin's Minstrels, Chatham's School of Rock Camps and fundraisers for Trilogy Rep and WCP.

Jacob plays various string instruments and sings in the rock band ZODIAC. Film credit includes: The Old Man and the Little Boy. He is a member of Fearless Productions.

A Thousand Clowns, a benchmark of Broadway comedy, produced one of the theatre's most beloved roles: unconventional Murray Burns, uncle to precocious nephew, Nick. Tired of writing cheap comedy gags for "Chuckles the Chipmunk", a children's television star, Murray finds himself unemployed with plenty of free time with which to pursue his...pursuits. Lectured by his conventional brother Arnold and hounded by "the system", Murray is paid a visit by bickering, uptight social workers, Sandra and Albert, and finds himself solving their problems as well as most of his own.

Russ Ortiz (Iselin) stars as Murray Burns, along with Jacob Lesser (Gillette) as Nick. In the role of Sandra Markowitz is Debbie Lingel (Basking Ridge) and Bobby Marusiefski (Rahway) as Albert Admunson. Paul Arafanis (Westfield) and Abe Vorensky (Metuchen) round out the cast as Arnold (Murray's brother) and Leo Herman (Chuckles, the Chipmonk) respectively.
