“City of Stories”: Share Your Story this Month!

Jane Addams Hull-House Museum and Chicago Public Libraries are partnering for “City of Stories” a CPL Summer Learning Initiative.

Hull-House is enhancing free drop-in programs at Chicago libraries with activities grounded in the social reform history and storytelling activities of Hull-House, including bookbinding, zine making, art making, and improvisation. The activities reveal collective and neighborhood stories and help everyone—children, teens, and adults—share their voice.

“Jane Addams believed everyone had a story to tell and public institutions, like libraries and museums, could harness those voices for the common good. The partnership between Jane Addams Hull-House Museum and the Chicago Public Library will provide thousands of families and youth the ability to share their stories and voices with their neighbors,”

-Ross Jordan, interim director and curatorial manager of the Jane Addams Hull-House Museum.

“Chicago Public Library is thrilled to collaborate with Jane Addams Hull-House Museum this summer through our 81 library locations...The partnership allows us to work together to share important stories with children, teens and families and invites communities to come together to tell their own stories.”

-Chris Brown, Chicago Public Library Commissioner
