Kari Lake Can't Cover Up Her Extreme Abortion Record

Government and Politics

April 11, 2024

ARIZONA - Kari Lake will do or say anything to gain power, including trying to hide her support for banning abortion. Lake has repeatedly expressed support for the 1864 territorial ban upheld by the Arizona Supreme Court and advocated for bans on abortion without exceptions for rape or incest.

Even today, Lake again celebrated the overturning of Roe v. Wade, which paved the way for the 1864 ban she calls “a great law,” to go into effect in Arizona – banning abortion outright and criminalizing doctors and nurses.

See Lake’s praise of Arizona’s 1864 abortion ban with no exceptions for rape or incest below:

- When asked in November 2023 about her support for the territorial ban, Lake said “I haven’t changed, actually.”

- “Obviously, I think Roe v. Wade should be overturned, and I think the Supreme Court, I have a good feeling that they’re going to do the right thing this time and again. I’ll echo what Steve just said. We have a great law on the books right now. If that happens, we will be a state where we will not be taking the lives of our unborn anymore.” [2/5/22]

- “I’m incredibly thrilled that we are going to have a great law that’s already on the books, I believe it’s ARS 13-3603. So it will prohibit abortion in Arizona except to save the life of a mother. And I think we’re going to be setting the, paving the way and setting course for other states to follow.” [6/24/22]

- In response to a question about whether she supported Arizona’s territorial abortion ban, Lake said “I believe life begins at conception,” and “I don’t think abortion pills should be legal,”after having stated “I think the older law is going to go into effect.”

- In response to the question “Abortion is effectively banned in the state right now […] Is that something you support?”, Lake responded, “I support saving as many lives as possible.”

- When Lake was asked, “??Do you favor one of those two over the other, the territorial law or the 15 weeks ban?” Kari Lake said, “I favor a law that will save as many babies as possible …”

And here’s even more of Kari Lake’s dangerous anti-choice agenda:

- Lake said, “I’m pro life, I believe life begins at conception.”

- Before Roe v. Wade was overturned. Lake said, “I joined Congressman Gosar in praying for God’s guidance to the Supreme Court and an end to this national disgrace created under Roe v Wade.”

- She said she is “100% pro-life,” and believes that there should be no federal right to an abortion, and that the Dobbs decision “corrected a 50 year wrong.

- She believes that abortion is “not health care,” that it is a “sacrifice” and an “execution.”

- She doesn’t believe in “any” abortions and supports the Texas abortion ban that allows for abortion “bounty hunters” and has put women’s lives in danger.

- She believes that an abortion is “not a medical choice.

- She believes in “banning those types of abortion pills” in reference to medication abortions.
