FAMILY PROGRAMS

Coffee & Cocoa with K-9 Cops

Sunday, January 8 from 2 to 3 p.m.

Main Library, DiMattia Building

Dudley N. Williams, Jr. Auditorium

All ages are invited to enjoy coffee and cocoa from Honey Joe's Family Coffeehouse and meet Lt. James Comstock, Officer Lou Scarano with his K-9 Wrigley and Officer Dan Kokkoros with his K-9 Kobe. The officers and their dogs are members of the Stamford Police Department Explosives Detection Canine Unit. The officers will describe their work, conduct a demonstration and answer questions.

A participatory storytime for the whole family that includes songs, fingerplays, stories and movement activities. For ages 18 months to 5 years with an accompanying caregiver. Registration required.

A Winter Wonderland Book Giveaway

Students and their families are invited for a fun-filled afternoon picking out books for home libraries, listening to guest speakers, enjoying snacks and creating a wintry craft.

Presented in partnership with the City of Stamford, Reading is Fundamental, Stamford Public Education Foundation and Stamford Public Schools.

All ages are invited to putt their way through the Harry Bennett Branch as it is transformed into a miniature golf course.

Tickets are $5 per player, per round.

Kids under three play for free.

Refreshments served at the 19th hole.

2023 Literary Competition

Now Accepting Entries

The Stamford Literary Competition celebrates excellence in student writing. It is open to students who live and attend school in Stamford and are in grades 3 to 12. Entries are due no later than Friday, February 10. Visit fergusonlibrary.org/friends/events for guidelines, categories, requirements and the online entry form.

Earn Volunteer Hours by Reviewing Books

The Ferguson Library is offering volunteer hours to teens in grades 6 to 12 to write book reviews. Reviews will be featured on the library's Youth Instagram page and displayed with reviewed books at the library.

Teens may submit up to two book reviews per week. For each review approved by a librarian, teens will receive one hour of volunteer credit.

Reviews may be edited for clarity and will list the reviewer's first name, last name initial, and grade, unless the reviewer specifies anonymity. Questions? Call 203-351-8242.
