Yesterday, a GOP Super PAC closely linked to U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Mike Johnson endorsed multi-failed-candidate, Yvette Herrell’s campaign for New Mexico’s Second Congressional District. Herrell is the only former House member of the 20 GOP candidates to receive this endorsement, which includes a promise of “direct financial support.”

During the brief time they were both in Congress, Johnson and Herrell rarely disagreed on key issues like wanting to ban abortion with no exceptions. Now, Johnson’s Republican Study Committee wants to slash social security and Medicare. 

“It is no surprise that Speaker Johnson is throwing all his support behind Herrell, he knows that she will vote for his agenda and would even help him gut social security, which thousands of New Mexicans rely on,” said Democratic Party of New Mexico Spokesperson Daniel Garcia. “Herrell's strongest supporters continue to be very alarming people, including insurrectionists, MAGA Republicans and election-deniers.”

The endorsement from this Super PAC comes after Speaker Johnson already personally endorsed Herrell. Johnsons knows that despite Herrell’s attempts to hide her anti-abortion and extreme record from voters, he can always count on her to fall in line with the hyper-partisan Washington Republican agenda.
