More pain at the pump: Maryland’s gas tax set to increase Friday

“I believe, and I think the majority of Marylanders believe, that it’s ridiculous, frankly, in light of the rising gas prices, the inflationary pressures that fuel costs are putting on almost every segment of the economy, for us to be raising gas taxes at the pump,” Buckel said

After SCOTUS ruling, GOP lawmakers aim to modify Maryland's "wear and carry" law

According to the the Maryland State Police Licensing division, to obtain a Wear and Carry Permit here applicants must show "a good and substantial reason to wear, carry, or transport a handgun, such as finding that the permit is necessary as a reasonable precaution against danger."

On Thursday, members of Maryland's House Republican Caucus sent a letter to Attorney General Brian Frosh urging him to declare that part of State law as "unconstitutional" and "unenforceable."

Maryland Republicans Harris, Szeliga call for another gas tax holiday

U.S. Rep. Andy Harris, R-District 1, and state Delegate Kathy Szeliga, R-District 7, whose district encompasses portions of Baltimore and Harford counties, held a news conference Monday on the issue. Both are seeking reelection this fall. They said they want both Annapolis and Washington to take action.

"Unfortunately, the Biden administration is unresponsive, so it falls on Annapolis to go ahead and pause the gas tax for the rest of the year," Harris said. "Regular families can't afford to fill up their car. Everything that is delivered by truck is now more expensive. All the prices in the grocery store are more expensive. All the prices everywhere because of the price of diesel."

"People across our county and state are frustrated and hurt by the current gas prices," Szeliga said. "This is harming single moms, college students, retirees. We are urging Annapolis to do something right now and bring some relief."

Our Party is funded by grassroots donors and organizers, without folks like you, we would not succeed as a party. If you have a few dollars to spare, chipping in now will help the Republican Party win our State and our Nation back this November.
