This week in the news...

Hundreds of Baltimore City voters placed in wrong district following state redistricting

"Johnson is one of thousands of Maryland voters who experienced errors with sample ballots, mail ballots, and now ballots they were given at in-person early voting centers following a turbulent redistricting process and legal challenges that delayed the July 19 primary election by three weeks. State officials acknowledged that Johnson and hundreds of her neighbors were incorrectly assigned on voter rolls. As many as 15,000 Maryland residents may have been incorrectly assigned"

Inflation surges 9.1% in June, accelerating more than expected to new 40-year high

"Inflation accelerated more than expected to a new four-decade high in June as the price of everyday necessities remains painfully high, exacerbating a financial strain for millions of Americans and worsening a political crisis for President Joe Biden."

Turnout Surged on Final Day of Early Voting

"About 4.6% of all eligible active voters turned out during the early voting period.

The figure fell short compared to early voting numbers four years ago, when 222,100 people, or 6.17% of voters, cast ballots at early voting centers."
