Gas prices in Maryland have hit a new record high yet again and it is only expected to get higher. Republicans in the General Assembly have pushed to suspend the automatic gas tax increase while Democrats have shrugged it off as "global uncertainty". The only thing I am certain about is if I saw these prices a year ago, my jaw would've hit the ground: 

Annapolis: $4.723

Baltimore: $4.731

Bowie-St. Charles: $4.714

Cumberland: $4.583

Frederick: $4.649

Hagerstown: $4.513

Salisbury: $4.707

Washington region (MD only): $4.764

MD gas breaks more records

"According to AAA, Maryland gas prices hit a new record high today of $4.63.

That’s an increase of nearly 40 cents in one month.

Trone, Ruppersberger, Raskin Back Bill to Hike Gas Prices Another 90 Cents a Gallon

"Three Maryland House Democrats, David Trone, Dutch Ruppersberger, and Jamie Raskin, have sponsored Federal legislation to raise gasoline prices by 90 cents a gallon. Their bill, the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act of 2021 (H.R. 2307) would create a brand new "Carbon Tax" set to the carbon content of fuels, including crude oil, natural gas, coal, or any other product derived from those fuels. [i] Their Carbon Tax rate begins at $15 per metric ton of CO2 in the first year but increases by $10 annually over subsequent years. [ii]"
