Trone's Office Issues Statement on Availability

David Trone released a statement after being criticized about his Western MD office's locked doors, piling mail, and its tendency to be closed during normal business hours,  is "open and fully staffed". Currently it's open one day a week, while his Multi-million dollar liquor store chain is open 7 Days a week and at least 13 Hours a day. 

Political Notes: House GOP Wants Frosh to Sue Biden

"They argued that Frosh showed “no interest in safeguarding and protecting the health of Maryland residents” when he decided not to join 21 other state attorneys general — all of whom are Republicans — in suing the Biden administration over its attempts to lift a provision in federal law that enabled the U.S. Border Patrol to prohibit the entry of people into the United States. A federal judge blocked the Biden administration’s attempts late last week."

House GOP call for special session to stop $200M increase to state gas tax

The House Republicans seek to enact a gas tax holiday and to eliminate the automatic increase in the gas tax.

"Increasing taxes during a time of high inflation is an inherently flawed concept," House Minority Leader Jason Buckel said in a statement. "You are raising taxes at a time when Marylanders are paying higher prices for food, household items, energy and basically everything else. You are raising taxes on gasoline when prices are at historic highs. This is only going to hurt Marylanders. It is a self-inflicted wound to our economy. Now, we have the full picture of what this gas tax increase is going to be, and we know that gas prices are still historically high. I hope our colleagues will see that this automatic tax increase cannot go forward."
