Governor Walz, Lieutenant Governor Flanagan Visit Northern Minnesota Brewery to Highlight State Support for Small Businesses

On Thursday, Governor Walz and Lieutenant Governor Flanagan visited Castle Danger, brewery in Northern Minnesota, to highlight steps the state has taken to support small businesses, including lifting the growler cap last session, replenishing the unemployment trust fund to prevent tax increases, and providing significant financial relief to businesses struggling during the pandemic. They also celebrated new job numbers that show Minnesota created nearly 20,000 new jobs in July – more than doubling the nation’s job growth rate.

Governor Walz, Lieutenant Governor Flanagan Announce State Will Expand Availability of Free Meals to 90,000 New Students this School Year

On Monday, Governor Walz and Lieutenant Governor Flanagan announced a new effort across state agencies that will make school meals available to an additional 90,000 students next school year. Now, more than 200,000 students on Medicaid will be automatically enrolled or re-enrolled to receive free meals at school.

Governor Walz, Lieutenant Governor Flanagan Announce Over 1,500 Students Are Now Enrolled in Tuition-Free Pathways to High-Need Careers

On Friday, Governor Walz and Lieutenant Governor Flanagan announced that more than 1,500 Minnesotans are benefitting from a new program aimed at creating tuition-free higher education opportunities for students in high-need career areas. Governor Walz and Lieutenant Governor Flanagan created the Minnesota Future Together program in 2021 to grow Minnesota’s workforce.

Governor Walz, Lieutenant Governor Flanagan Celebrate Inflation Reduction Act

Governor Walz and Lieutenant Governor Flanagan celebrated President Biden’s signing of the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022. The Inflation Reduction Act will lower the prices of prescription drugs and help Minnesota workers and families access affordable health care, which the Walz-Flanagan Administration has continued to  prioritize as families struggle with rising costs.

“This is a big win for Minnesota,” said Governor Walz. “The Inflation Reduction Act will lower the price of prescription drugs and help Minnesota workers and families access affordable health care – something our administration has prioritized as families struggle with rising costs.”

Governor Walz Announces $18 Million in RAISE Grant for Critical Highway Reconstruction

Last week, Governor Walz announced that Minnesota will receive $18 million in Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity grants to fund reconstruction for MN Hwy 197 in Bemidji. This new  state-federal partnership will invest in Minnesota's safety, economy, and livability.
