Governor Walz Announces Effective End to Veteran Homelessness in St. Louis County

On Thursday, Governor Walz announced the effective end of veteran homelessness in St. Louis County -- another major step towards the Walz-Flanagan Administration's goal of eliminating veteran homelessness across Minnesota.

Governor Walz, Attorney General Ellison Highlight $300 Million to Fight Opioid Epidemic

Governor Walz and Lieutenant Governor Flanagan joined Attorney General Keith Ellison, legislators, and advocates to celebrate a $300 million bill to fight the opioid epidemic in Minnesota and hold pharmaceutical companies accountable. The funding, the result of a multi-state lawsuit against pharmaceutical companies, will be used by communities across the state for opioid education, treatment, prevention, and recovery.

Governor Walz Declares Juneteenth Freedom Day in the state of Minnesota

Governor Walz has declared Sunday, June 19, as Juneteenth Freedom Day in the state of Minnesota to celebrate freedom, honor Black Americans and their history, and recommit to civil rights for all. Observing Juneteenth challenges every Minnesotan to acknowledge a collective past of adversity and injustice while working towards a brighter, more equitable future. 

Governor Walz Announces Minnesota Will Be Ready to Provide COVID-19 Vaccines to Children 6 Months and Older

On Wednesday, following the FDA vote to recommend vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna for young children, Governor Walz announced Minnesota is ready to vaccinate children 6 months and older against COVID-19. This will provide access to many children across Minnesota who were previously ineligible, protecting them from severe illness and allowing them to safely attend school and activities.

Governor Walz on Minnesota's Economy as May Unemployment Rates Mark Another Record Low

Minnesota’s unemployment rate hit another historic low in May with an unemployment rate of 2.0%. 

“Minnesota’s economy is strong, and Minnesotans are working hard. I am proud to break another record with these historically low unemployment rates,” said Governor Walz. “Minnesota is in a stable and secure position during this time of global uncertainty and high inflation rates across the country. We’ll continue working to provide financial relief for Minnesotans and ensure our economy remains strong.”
