Governor Walz, Lieutenant Governor Flanagan Kick-off the 2022 Governor’s Fishing Opener

On Friday, Governor Walz and Lieutenant Governor Flanagan kicked-off the 2022 walleye fishing season at the Governor’s Fishing Opener, which highlights the importance of fishing and its positive impact on Minnesota's businesses, tourism, and outdoor economy. On Saturday, the Governor and Lieutenant Governor will fish at Lake Winnibigoshish, alongside half-a-million Minnesotan anglers across the state. 

Governor Walz, Lieutenant Governor Flanagan Highlight Need for Increased Student Mental Health Resources

On Wednesday, Governor Walz and Lieutenant Governor Flanagan visited Edison High School in Minneapolis to meet with students, educators, and mental health providers and highlight the need for increased student mental health resources. The Governor and Lieutenant Governor’s Budget to Move Minnesota Forward invests more than $210 million in children and student mental health support and intervention.

Governor Walz Authorizes Relief for Farmers Amid Flooding, Severe Weather

Following some of the worst flooding the state has seen in over decade, Governor Walz issued an Executive Order to provide immediate relief to farmers impacted by the floods. Minnesota and the country's agricultural industry relies on Minnesota farmers to successfully plant and harvest on time every year, and this order will help Minnesota farmers get back on track. 

Governor Walz Signs Bill Supporting Veterans Into Law

Governor Walz signed a comprehensive veterans bill that will move the state toward ending and preventing veteran homelessness, provide service bonuses to veterans and Gold Star families, and fund veterans homes and veterans cemeteries.

Governor Walz: Minnesota’s Economy Remains Strong

This week, Governor Walz reacted to news that in April, the State’s revenues exceeded the forecast by $1.1 billion.

“This news tells us that Minnesota’s economy is strong and continuing to grow,” said Governor Walz. “But as global supply chain disruptions and inflation continue to challenge the working families and small businesses that make up the foundation of our economy, now is not the time to cut taxes for the wealthy at the expense of investments in education, child care, and public safety. Now is the time to deliver direct support in the form of $1,000 checks to families, while making long-term investments to lower costs and improve Minnesotans’ lives for generations to come.”

Governor Walz Signs Opioid Response Bill Into Law

On Wednesday, Governor Walz signed a bill providing $300 million to advance Minnesota’s response to the opioid crisis. Paid for by opioid manufacturers, the historic agreement of nearly $300 million will help to prevent addiction and provide effective treatment for all Minnesotans who need it.

Governor Walz, Lieutenant Governor Flanagan Attend Childcare Day of Action Rally at the Capitol

On Monday, Governor Walz and Lieutenant Governor Flanagan attended the Childcare Day of Action Rally at the Capitol and called on the legislature to take action for Minnesota kids and their pass Budget to Move Minnesota Forward.

Governor Walz Orders Flags at Half-Staff to Honor the One Million American Lives Lost to COVID-19

In accordance with a proclamation issued by President Joe Biden, Governor Walz has directed all flags at state and federal buildings in Minnesota to be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Monday, May 16, 2022 to remember, mourn, and honor the one million American lives lost to COVID-19.
