Governor Walz, Lieutenant Governor Flanagan Greet Students on First Day of School

Governor Walz and Lieutenant Governor Flanagan were out bright and early on Tuesday morning to greet Zanewood Community School students on their first day of school.

Updated Booster Shots Are Now Available in Minnesota

Appointments are now available for people in Minnesota to receive an updated bivalent booster – which is formulated to be more effective against the Omicron variants – at state-run vaccination sites at the Mall of America and Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center. Additional state sites will be opening in the coming days.

“This new booster represents another step forward in fighting COVID-19,” said Governor Walz. “This variant-specific formula will play an important role in helping keep Minnesotans safe this fall – especially when paired with testing and therapeutics.”

Minnesotans can do the following to find shots:

- Contact your health care provider or a local pharmacy.

- Use the state’s?Find Vaccine Locations?to find vaccine providers near you.

- Check for vaccine appointments at?Vaccines.gov, where you can search for appointments by vaccine type (e.g., Pfizer).

- Watch for vaccination clinics being offered at other community locations around Minnesota.

Governor Walz Announces Minnesota’s Second Quarter Exports Soar to Record High

Governor Walz announced that exports of manufactured, agricultural, and mining goods from Minnesota were valued at $6.7 billion in the second quarter of 2022, reaching the highest level on record.

“Minnesota’s workers and businesses are fueling, feeding, and supporting the global economy,” said Governor Walz. “Our record-breaking exports demonstrate that the world recognizes the value of doing business in Minnesota. We will continue building partnerships abroad that allow our local economies to thrive.”

Governor Walz, Lieutenant Governor Flanagan Visit Tawfiq Islamic Center Following Recent Vandalism

Governor Walz and Lieutenant Governor Flanagan visited Tawfiq Islamic Center in Minneapolis to meet with Muslim community leaders and survey the damage after recent vandalism.

"We cannot forget this shameful event. We stand with Minnesota’s Muslim community and will not tolerate acts of violence toward our friends and neighbors," said Governor Walz. 

"Violence and hatred have no place in our state. To our Muslim brothers and sisters in Minnesota: We stand with you. Hate is not the last word," said Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan. 

Governor Walz, Lieutenant Governor Flanagan Announce Public Safety Partnership with the University of Minnesota, State Patrol

Governor Walz and Lieutenant Governor Flanagan announced the Minnesota State Patrol will partner with the University of Minnesota to keep students safe on campus by patrolling areas surrounding the campus. 

Governor Walz Orders Flags Flown at Half-Staff in Honor of Queen Elizabeth II

In honor of the life and legacy of Queen Elizabeth II, Governor Walz ordered that all  flags be flown at half-staff at all state and federal buildings in Minnesota.

“Queen Elizabeth II was a force on the world stage, and her leadership through some of the darkest times in recent history will not be forgotten,” said Governor Walz. “Minnesota joins the nation in lowering our flags to honor her life and legacy.”
