Held The third weekend of June, the Arts and Acts Festival showcases the contemporary art, handicraft work, and unique creations by fine artists and crafters from Michigan and around the country through the 34th Annual Art in the Sun Juried Art Fair. Visitors enjoy art and family-friendly activities such as the Northville Art House Chalk Festival and annual Short on Words: A Poetry and Short Story Event.

Art In The Sun At Arts And Acts Festival

The Northville Art House invited talented artists and crafters from around the country working in all media to apply to the Art in the Sun Juried Art Fair, held under the umbrella of the Arts and Acts Festival, on the third weekend in June in charming Downtown Northville.

34th Annual Art in the Sun Juried Art Fair

Art in the Sun, held each day of the festival, showcases contemporary art, handicraft work, and unique creations by over 75 fine artists and crafters from Michigan and around the country competing for monetary awards based on original artwork and booth presentation.

Chalk Festival at Arts and Acts

The 8th Annual Chalk Festival, part of the Arts and Acts Festival, will be held Saturday, June 18, 10 am - 4 pm on S Center St, between Main and Mary Alexander Ct.  features artists transforming the pavement into a checkered pattern of color and imagination, while visitors view the chalk art at their feet, and then vote online for their favorite!. Artists enter age-specific divisions, Children (ages 0 – 11), Teens (ages 12 – 17) and Adults (ages 18 and up), with prizes awarded in each category by jury and public vote.

- Online Registration - May until Friday, June 17
- On-Site Registration - Friday, June 17, 3 - 8 pm & Saturday, June 18, 10 am - 3 pm
- Guidelines: Registration is per space for individual or a group
- Check-In - At tent, 5 minutes before your reserved start time
- Rain Date: Sunday, June 19, 10 am - 3 pm.

Registration
Online: $8 for the first space and $4 four each additional space. Up to 5 spaces per registration all with the same start time. Closes Friday, June 17.

- Each space includes one box/bag of chalk if needed.
- Please select an available start time for all registered spaces.
- Spaces filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Short on Words at Arts and Acts Festival

Short on Words held during the Arts & Acts Festival, highlights the art of literature. Hosted by Preservation Dental, Office of Dr. William S. Demray, this annual literary contest invited writers of all ages to share their original short stories and poetry inspired by a photograph or theme.

The 10th Year - 9th Edition of Short on Words

The public is welcomed to The 10th Year - 9th Edition of Short on Words poetry and short story competition, held on Saturday, June 18, 11 am at the Northville Art House, 215 W. Cady St. The event will feature readings, live music, light refreshments, and an awards presentation.

This year more than 70 local, national, and international authors shared their original short stories and poetry inspired by one of ten photographs taken by the event’s organizer, Preservation Dental – The Office of Dr. William S. Demray. Awards to be given to the top 3 works in both the youth (ages 17 and under) and adult (18 and up) categories.

Authors Brunch at Arts and Acts Festival - Free Public Event

The public is invited to attend the Authors Brunch at the Northville Art House on Saturday June 18th at 11a.m. Winners of Short on Words 2022 will be announced

This year, the short story- poetry writing contest had the most entries in its ten-year history-more than 70 from national and international authors. Writers were asked to create prose from one of one of ten featured photographs taken by the event’s organizer, Dr William Demray, Founder, Preservation Dental. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three entries in both competitions including youth (17 and under) and adults (18 and up).

The event includes food, author readings and musical entertainment.
