Julie Pepiuk Lurix, age 78 of San Antonio, TX, formerly of Seymour, CT, entered eternal rest on December 31, 2023.  Born in Düsseldorf, Germany on May 26, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Rose Andrietz Pepiuk.  In 1951, she immigrated to the United States with her parents through Ellis Island to escape war torn Europe and to achieve the American dream. Julie was raised in Seymour, graduated from Seymour High School and the Nancy Taylor Secretarial and Finishing School of NYC. She enjoyed a long and successful banking career, beginning as a teller at Derby Savings Bank in 1963, then advancing into various managerial roles at Connecticut National Bank and its successors. She retired in 2005 from Bank of America where she was employed as an Assistant Banking Center Manager, at the Seymour branch. Shortly after retirement Ms. Lurix moved to San Antonio, Texas to help her daughter raise her young family.  She enthusiastically embraced her role as “Gabba” by caring for and teaching her grandchildren the importance of faith, family, love, personal integrity, and Ukrainian tradition with a lot of fun and laughter mixed in. Julie was a talented, self-taught artist who loved to pencil sketch and paint. She enjoyed music, dancing, trying new recipes and having long, lively, and meaningful conversations.  She was well known for her animated and positive personality and for lovingly making delicious meals for her family and friends, “just because”.  Most of all, Julie was known for her devout Christian faith, her steadfast commitment to personify God’s love to everyone and for her love and dedication to her family.  Julie is survived by her beloved daughter, Deidre Ann Cacchillo and her cherished grandchildren, David, Aaron, and Alexis Wolf, of San Antonio; a dear and loyal friend of over 40 years, Clemence “Clem” King of Seymour as well as many, dear friends in Connecticut and Texas.  A springtime celebration of life service with interment in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Derby, will be announced by the Wakelee Memorial Funeral Home, 167 Wakelee Avenue, Ansonia.  Online condolences may be made at www.wakeleememorial.com.
