On the 60th anniversary of Medicaid and Medicare becoming law, State Senator Sue Prentiss, Deputy House Democratic Leader Laura Telerski, and NHDP Chair Ray Buckley slammed Republicans for supporting Donald Trump's efforts to gut Medicaid and Medicare just to give another tax giveaway to Big Pharma and Trump’s billionaire backers.
Donald Trump’s budget bill, which Republican Senate candidates Scott Brown and Dan Innis said they would have voted for, will leave more than 46,000 Granite Staters without health care, increase costs for providers, drive up insurance rates, and result in average premium increases of approximately $630 for Granite Staters covered under the Affordable Care Act.

NHDP Chair Ray Buckley: “Trump’s Big Ugly Bill, which he signed into law earlier this month, will rip away health care from more than 46,000 Granite Staters, raise prescription drug costs, drive up insurance rates, increase costs for providers, and increase premiums. Scott Brown and Dan Innis, the Republicans running for the U.S. Senate, would have voted for this if they were in Washington, leaving no doubt that their allegiance is to Donald Trump – not the people of New Hampshire. As these two stooges fight for Trump’s endorsement and affection, Granite Staters are being forced to choose between putting food on the table for their families and having to pay for life-saving medical care.”
State Senator Sue Prentiss: “I share concerns on this anniversary that we’re going backwards rather than going forward. I share concerns that those who want to occupy elected seats, representing the state of New Hampshire in Congress, like Scott Brown and Dan Innis, will vote with Donald Trump and Republicans to continue to make these kinds of cuts rather than going the New Hampshire way, which is building prosperous and inclusive communities.”
Deputy House Democratic Leader Laura Telerski: “When I see two candidates like Scott Brown and Dan Innis proudly endorse Trump’s bill, which will take access to critical, life-saving health care away from seniors, families, and children, it’s clear to me and everyone else in New Hampshire that they’re not running to serve Granite Staters - they’re running to serve Donald Trump. The bottom line is that Republican majorities in Concord and Washington are chipping away at Granite Staters' access to life-saving care. We will not stay silent about this, and we will hold every single Republican in this state accountable for their support of Donald Trump and Kelly Ayotte’s reckless agenda.”
