Out-of-Stater Navigator: 100 Days Since Sheehy Opposed the Bipartisan Border Security Bill

Government and Politics

May 17, 2024

It has been 100 days since Senate Republicans opposed the bipartisan border security legislation that Tim Sheehy opposed, demonstrating his failure to listen to Montanans and their desire to see Congress secure the border and fight the fentanyl crisis.

The bipartisan bill, backed by the Border Patrol Union, would have provided vital resources for the overwhelmed border. Instead, Sheehy took his marching orders from Mitch McConnell and blindly opposed the bill.

Montanans won’t forget Sheehy’s decision to play political games. Read on for more about Sheehy’s missteps and lies.

WHY IS TIM SHEEHY HIDING MEDICAL RECORDS RELATED TO GLACIER PARK INCIDENT?

In a new interview with Montana Public Radio, Tim Sheehy confirmed he will not release his hospital medical records from the day court documents show he shot himself in the arm in Glacier National Park, saying “it’s pretty ridiculous” he would need to present them.

However, just one month ago, Sheehy told the Washington Post that he had already “requested” the medical records that would provide answers about his conflicting accounts of his gunshot wound. His refusal to make his records publicly available prevents Montanans from knowing the truth.

NEW OP-ED HITS SHEEHY FOR HIS PATTERN OF LYING

In a new op-ed, Montana Democratic Party Executive Director Sheila Hogan outlined Tim Sheehy’s deeply alarming pattern of lying to Montanans about who he is.

From lying about his “rural” upbringing to his life as a so-called “cowboy,”Sheehy seems allergic to the truth.

SHEEHY CALLS NBC MONTANA INTERVIEW “AN AMBUSH” AND “HIT PIECE”

After his disastrous first on-camera interview with NBC Montana, Sheehy doubled down on lashing out at media outlets rather than taking accountability for his actions and beliefs.

Now, in a new interview, Sheehy called the NBC Montana interview “an ambush” and a “hit piece” – focusing his attacks on Montana newsrooms. It’s clear that Sheehy is “starting to balk at the media scrutiny that comes with running for statewide office,” and as Montana Public Radio previously pointed out, “if Sheehy is this unaccountable as a candidate, one has to wonder how accountable he would be as a Senator.”

TIM SHEEHY REPEATS LIE THAT HE “BOOTSTRAPPED” HIS COMPANY, DESPITE TAKING $600K FROM FAMILY

In a new interview, Sheehy repeated his false claim that he “bootstrapped” his company and that his company was entirely built with “every cent of [his] savings.”

In actuality, reporting from the Daily Beast revealed Sheehy was given at least $600,000 in startup money from his dad and brother for his company, and his brother’s extensive Wall Street connections set up Bridger Aerospace’s first government contract.

SHEEHY’S HEALTH CARE PLAN WOULD STICK TENS OF THOUSANDS OF MONTANANS WITH HIGHER HEALTH CARE COSTS

New reporting from the Montana Independent outlined Tim Sheehy’s false claims about the Affordable Care Act and that repealing the law would “mean higher health care costs and leave tens of thousands of Montanans without health insurance coverage.”

In a candidate questionnaire, Sheehy falsely claimed the Affordable Care Act was responsible for high premiums. Repealing the bill would jeopardize health insurance for Montanans across the state, especially those in rural communities.
