ANNAPOLIS, MD—After cutting the ribbon on a wider, safer MD 32 in Howard County, Governor Larry Hogan today made a number of stops across Carroll County to highlight his administration’s progress to grow jobs and support small businesses.

Boys & Girls Club of Westminster. The governor’s first stop was the Boys & Girls Club of Westminster, which provides youth development programs and positive mentorship, and is currently serving 275 local youth during its 10-week camp. In June of 2021, Governor Hogan launched a $25 million Project Bounce Back initiative, which includes the expansion of the Maryland Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs to every county in the state.

JeannieBird Baking Company. Since first opening as a farmers’ market stall in 2008, the JeannieBird Baking Company has become a Main Street staple in Downtown Westminster.

Carroll County Fair. Now in its 125th year, the Carroll County 4-H & FFA Fair hosts exhibits and events ranging from livestock shows, to tractor and truck pulls, concerts, and a car demolition derby. While walking the fairgrounds, the governor congratulated winners of a beef cattle showmanship class.

Carroll County Public Safety Training Center. The governor toured the Carroll County Public Safety Training Center, where first responders from across the state attend various life-saving training courses.

150th Anniversary of Union Bridge. Located in western Carroll County, Union Bridge was first settled before the Revolutionary War as a farming community and was officially chartered by the Maryland General Assembly in 1872. To commemorate the town’s 150th anniversary, Governor Hogan stopped by Flood Zone Marketplace & Brewery to present a citation to Union Bridge Mayor Perry Jones.

1623 Brewing Company. To celebrate National IPA Day, Governor Hogan stopped by 1623 Brewing Company, an award-winning, family-owned and operated brewery in Eldersburg. The State of Maryland has a thriving craft brewing industry with over 90 breweries.

Maryland State Police Academy Training Center. During a tour of the Maryland State Police Academy Training Center in Sykesville, Governor Hogan had the chance to meet members of Trooper Candidate Class 155, who will graduate from the academy this December. Maryland’s residential police training academy is known as one of the most intense and comprehensive state police training programs in the country.

Downtown Sykesville. To wrap up his day in Carroll County, the governor toured the historic Town of Sykesville—which is part of the Maryland Main Street program—and stopped by the Sykesville Town Hall, Unwined on Main, Patapsco Distilling Company, and Sykesville Station.
