Prescott National Forest Opens Additional Recreation Sites on May 1, 2023

Prescott, AZ - The Prescott National Forest will open the following developed recreation sites on Monday, May 1, 2023.  

 - Group Campgrounds - Playground Group, Upper Wolf Creek Group, Turney Gulch Group
 - Day-Use Sites - Spruce Mountain Picnic Area, Mingus Mountain Picnic Site, Summit Picnic Site, Mingus Lake
 - Family Campgrounds - Lower Wolf Creek, Potato Patch, Mingus Mountain, Groom Creek Horse Camp, Hazlett Hollow
 - Cabin Rentals - Horsethief Basin Cabin

Note:  

 - Hazlett Hollow and Turney Gulch will not have water until further notice, as we conduct maintenance on water systems.  Visitors must bring their own water.
 - Road Improvement work is being performed on the Wolf Creek Road (C101), by Yavapai County Public Works. This work includes culvert replacement. While culvert replacement is occurring, sections of the Wolf Creek Road may be impassable.  - Please pay attention to warning signs and instructions. Work is projected to be completed by May 1, 2023.
 - Starting on May 1, 2023, day-use hours will be extended reflecting the longer days. Gates will open at 6:00 am and close at 8:00 pm daily through September 30, 2023.

If you are planning to visit the Prescott NF, please remember to:

 - Be a good steward and recreate responsibly.
 - Park only in designated areas. Do not impede emergency access by blocking roadways, fire lanes or driveways.
 - Follow “Leave No Trace” principles, including “pack it in, pack it out” with your trash, to avoid creating a public health hazard for forest visitors and employees.
