Phoenix, AZ -- Starting February 29, Ronin Theatre Company presents Martin McDonagh’s THE LONESOME WEST at the Irish Cultural Center.

Set in the Irish village of Leenane, this black comedy is about two brothers who torment each other in their father’s house after his death.

“This is the third in McDonagh’s trilogy set in the west of Ireland,” said Ronin Artistic Director Keath Hall. “Adult brothers, Valene and Coleman, argue over anything and everything. It’s very endearing,” he laughed. Hall directs and acts in the show.

Hall (Coleman) has previously starred as Civil War general BEN BUTLER, iconic actor-director ORSON WELLES and played multiple Shakespearean characters including Prospero in THE TEMPEST and Falstaff in HENRY IV.

Eric Darling-Bond (Valene) has been in a variety of theatre productions across the Valley including SOMETHING ROTTEN (Nick), OTHER DESERT CITIES (Tripp), BYE BYE BIRDIE (Albert) and SPAMALOT (Patsy).

Alana Samuels plays an Irish bootlegger (Girleen) in her third Ronin production; past shows included TWELFTH NIGHT (Maria) and PLAYBOY OF THE WESTERN WORLD (Widow Quin). Phillip Herrington portrays an alcoholic parish priest (Father Welsh) and some of his past roles include MACBETH (Ross) and THE CRUCIBLE (John).

THE LONESOME WEST runs February 29 through March 3 with two matinees and three evening performances. Tickets are $30 for regular admission, $20 for Irish Cultural members, students, veterans and seniors over 60. Reservations are available at www.azirish.org/ronin-theatre.

The remainder of Ronin’s 2024 Season includes THE HAIRY APE, VENUS IN FUR, HAUNTED CASTLE and CORIOLANUS. Three will be staged at the Irish Cultural Center; VENUS will be mounted at Stage Left Productions.
