Schedule

12:00 pm - 1:00 pm Dulcinea: Early Music Consort and Duo Violinists: Harmony Coalesce

Dulcinea Early Music Consort was formed in St. Augustine in 2012. "Dulcinea" was the name of Don Quixote's fantasy damsel.  Dulcinea performs music from the Medieval and Renaissance through the Baroque and Modern eras, in period dress, on replicas of a wide variety of recorders and other early music instruments.  They perform widely in the St. Augustine area and seek to enrich cultural life through historically informed live performances designed to inspire a new appreciation of early music. The members of Dulcinea are Mary Jane Ballou, Carol Markey, Betsey McCoy, Suzette Morasca,

Amy Steinbach and Robbie Zukauskas.

Joining Dulcinea will be "Harmonie Coalesce", a talented husband and wife team, Kimberly and Robert Zielinski, playing repertoire composed for duo-violinists.

7:30 pm - 9:00 pm: Headliner: Mama Blue on the Markland Porch

Returning to Romanza is like coming home for Mama Blue! The Jacksonville native has planted seeds in St. Augustine, and the musical fruit is sweet!  Choosing to take "a road less traveled," by keeping close to her roots and community, she has blazed a "Heartfelt Highway", with original music, emboldened by sharing her vulnerabilities and ours.

Mama Blue was voted Best of the Beaches Female Vocalist in 2020 and one of Romanza's perennial favorites!  In the January 2021 Arbus Magazine, she spoke of the hardships that musicians have faced which were magnified in 2020 and how, as a community of artists and fans we could persevere, together. Humanity is her family and the social forces that influence our lives, influence her music. She continues to push past barriers, seen and unseen through her original songs of friendship, perseverance, forgiveness and the perfection in our imperfections. Mama Blue Live is an experience you will not want to miss!

Enjoy the beautiful lawn at Markland. Bring a chair and listen to the music of Mama Blue and her band engage us with soul, R&B and gospel favorites.

Rosamond Parrish's art can be described in many ways:  colorful, evocative, bold or quiet.  In a life that has taken many turns, she keeps returning to her love of travel and places.  She paints and draws both in plein air and in her small studio in St. Augustine.

An English major at Auburn, Rosamond soon moved to Florida, taught briefly in the public schools and began studying watercolor.  In 1982, she founded the Jacksonville Watercolor Society and served on the Board of the Saint Augustine Art Association and the Florida Watercolor Society.  Ms. Parrish has taught workshops and classes for over 30 years.  Local scenes of Lincolnville homes or Saint Augustine historic places, as well as travel far and near can be seen in her watercolors, drawing and collages.

She has illustrated and written two books:  "Lincolnville, a Sketchbook Journal of St. Augustine's Historic Neighborhood" (available at Blue Hen Cafe) and "St. Augustine, a Sketchbook". (Pineapple Press, available at Barnes and Noble, Amazon, the Lightner Museum and the Pena Peck Gift Shop)

A Classic Theatre is presenting "Mothers and Sons" as their Festivale offering. NBC New York has stated that "Mothers and Sons" feels like the sun on your face!"  The ACT production will be directed by Grace Reed.

It's been 20 years since Andre died, and his mother, Katherine, still hasn't recovered from his loss.  Her grief is still so heavy that she finds herself on the doorstep of Cal – Andre's former lover – now married to a different man, and raising a young son.  He's moved on, she's thinking bitterly.  Why haven't I?

At turns witty and powerful, "Mothers and Sons" is a story rooted in optimism.  Like all engaging modern plays, it weaves funny dialogue with themes that are both provocative and heartfelt.

May 13 – 7:30 pm
