Phoenix – Former Congressman and Republican gubernatorial candidate Matt Salmon on May 30th, issued the following statement in recognition of Memorial Day:

"Today we honor the courageous men and women who sacrificed everything in defense of this nation.

"Since our founding, the rights and freedoms we cherish have been protected by those in uniform who believed in a cause bigger than themselves – for this, we will remain forever in their debt.

"I join all Arizonans in expressing our eternal gratitude on this Memorial Day. Let us pay tribute to these American heroes by recounting their sacrifices, by taking care of the loved ones they've left behind, and by continuing to safeguard everything they fought for."
