Teen Room Updates

We're open on Sundays again starting October 2nd! Thanks to generous donations the library will be open 1:00-5:00 pm on Sundays, so come on in. The Teen Room is a great place for group projects or individual work with big tables and solo desks. Enjoy the view of the sunny lawn and our beautiful kousa dogwood  tree!

READ THE RAINBOW BOOK GROUP
MONDAY, OCTOBER 17TH, 7:00-8:00 PM

GRADES 7-12

Join us for the Read the Rainbow Book Group! Led by Girl Scout Kaitlyn Minton as part of her Silver Award we'll be reading A Queer History of the United States for Young People by Michael Bronski, one of School Library Journal's Best Nonfiction Books of 2019. Copies of the book can be collected from the Main Desk of the library. At each meeting we'll discuss a selection of chapters and ideas. Who should join this book group? Anyone in grades 7-12 who wants to increase their awareness and understanding of LGBTQ+ issues! Snacks will be provided!

TEEN ADVISORY MEETING

What is Teen Advisory? It's a way for you to connect with the library and make your voice heard. It's a chance to see your ideas and opinions come to life. It's an easy way to earn volunteer credit by attending monthly meetings.  Join us to meet some new people, eat snacks, and help us make our Teen Room (and library) THE BEST!

LED PAPER CIRCUITS
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 19TH, 3:30-4:30 PM
MEETING ROOM A
GRADES 9-12

Combine STEM skills with a fun craft - we’re making LED paper circuits! Master the simple, series, and parallel circuit and then let your imagination be your guide. Create a design with conductive tape and make your LEDs glow. Perhaps a zombie with eerie eyes, or a robot with blinking antennae. Increase the difficulty by working on a folded greeting card!

School is over - work off a little steam with videogames! We'll have some of the most popular multiplayer games for the Nintendo Switch, like Super Smash Bros, Mario Party, and Overcooked. Show up ready to play or just watch your friends!

SCARY STORIES IN THE CEMETERY
MONDAY, OCTOBER 24TH, 6:30-7:15 PM
MOUNTAIN VIEW CEMETERY
GRADES 5-12

Imagine - a quiet, moonless night, dark shapes of bare trees, a lone figure in black beckoning you to follow her into the cemetery. Time for scary stories! We'll meet at the Artemas Ward gate (behind the First Congregational Church) and walk amongst the graves, then settle in for some chilling tales in the dark. We'll bring cider and cookies, you bring a blanket to sit on.
