From: Father's Day Festival

A. Smith Bowman Distillery believes the World’s Best Dad deserves the World’s Best Bourbon, and in celebration of dads everywhere, the Distillery is hosting its sixth annual Father’s Day Festival with all of dad’s favorite things, including John J. Bowman Bourbon which was named the 2017 World’s Best Bourbon by Whiskey Magazine.

The festival will take place at the Distillery from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will feature everything from live music and bourbon to an inaugural Bourbon Barrel Regatta, mouthwatering food and more.

Fathers and families are invited to take a tour of the Distillery, checkout the many vendors that will be on site, listen to live music provided by the Dear John Band and watch the Barrel Regatta.

The Distillery is partnering with River Rock Outfitter to host the first Deep Run Bourbon Barrel Regatta in which teams are invited to create their own boats made from A. Smith Bowman bourbon barrels and race across Deep Run, which is located right next to the Distillery. Registration for this has been extended through June 4th . Proceeds from the Barrel Regatta will benefit the American Canoe Association’s education and safety programs.

A cash bar featuring a variety of local beers, wines, and of course A. Smith Bowman Distillery’s award winning spirits will be available to those over 21, and food trucks, Pfifer Brothers Barbeque and 719 Slice, will be onsite with some delicious food.

Dad is sure to find something he likes with planned vendors like Po River Apiary, Cocoa & Spice (chocolates), Hogshead Cigars, Langdon Woods Maple Syrup, Turnberry Woodworking, Ricks Roasters Coffee Company and many more.

“We are very excited to host our sixth Father’s Day Festival and hope everyone will come out to join us,” Master Distiller Brian Prewitt said. “This festival is one of our most anticipated events every year, and we’re looking forward to a fun day.”

About A. Smith Bowman

A. Smith Bowman's distilling roots date back to the years before Prohibition when the Bowman family had a granary and dairy farm in Sunset Hills, Virginia. They used excess grain from the family estate to distill spirits. In 1934, after the Repeal of Prohibition, Abram Smith Bowman and his sons continued the family tradition and built a more modern distillery in Fairfax County, Virginia called Sunset Hills Farm. The Distillery was moved in 1988 and is now nestled in Spotsylvania County near the city of Fredericksburg, 60 miles away from the original location.

As a small and privately owned company, A. Smith Bowman Distillery continues the timehonored traditions on which it was founded. Considered a micro-distillery by today's standards, A. Smith Bowman produces an assortment of hand-crafted spirits distilled from only the finest natural ingredients and using the latest technology. This micro-distillery focuses on the production of premium spirits honoring the legacy of Virginia's first settlers. Its various brands have won more than 100 awards in the past five years, including “World’s Best Bourbon” in 2016 for its Abraham Bowman Port Finished Bourbon and again in 2017 for its John J. Bowman Single Barrel at the World Whisky Awards. For more information on A. Smith Bowman, please visit
