San Diego Gives

We all know how important it is to support our region by eating and shopping locally. Now, you can join the movement to give locally, too. Space 4 Art is participating in San Diego Gives again this year.

A local version of the national “Giving Tuesday” campaign, San Diego Gives provides a chance for the community to learn about and support the good work of local nonprofits right in their backyards, like Space 4 Art. The 24-hour “day of giving” will take place on September 7, although early giving opens on Thursday, August 17.

Please check out S4A’s fundraising page on the San Diego Gives website, and help us raise funds to keep our events like Open Studios, Art Shows, Craft Circles, Poetry Recitals and Book Talks Free 4 All at Space 4 Art!

Read below to find out how events like Open Studios help our artists.

Past, Present, and Future

Recently, our office staff stumbled upon this 2008 interview with S4A’s co-founder, Cheryl Nickel. Cheryl is still striving for the same affordable artist live-work spaces now as she was over a decade ago. Fast forward to the present day where this recent article showcases S4A’s resident musician, Felix Diaz, who is always on the lookout for more space for his growing collection of world drums and educational programs through Drummers Without Borders.
