July 25, 2022

From: Space 4 Art

On July 30th, from 10 AM to 3 PM, S4A’s Armando De La Torre will be directing a day of poetry, puppetry, and music for all ages at Southcrest Recreation Center. Armando has specifically designed this event with the residents of Southcrest and the broader San Diego City Council District 9 region in mind. If you live in Southcrest, or other D9 neighborhoods like City Heights and College Area, this event is for YOU! Spring Tide is part of the City of San Diego’s Park Social Project– find out more on our blog.

Vote to Fund Space 4 Art Education Programs in District 9

We were thrilled to partner with both Crawford High School and Pro Kids, First Tee – San Diego during the 2021-2022 school year! Through these partnerships, our artists facilitated several weeks of project-based STEAM and healing arts workshops for students in San Diego City Council District 9. The workshops created space for almost 900 student interactions with S4A Teaching Artists across a variety of art forms.

Space 4 Art is currently applying for funding to continue our arts-education programs in District 9 during the upcoming school year. Council President Sean Elo-Rivera and his staff have designed a system where D9 residents can fill out a survey to help direct the grant money. If you live in District 9, please take a few minutes to fill out this three-question survey and express your support for funding K-12 arts education. You can even specifically mention Space 4 Art in one of the short-answer questions. The survey closes on Friday, July 29th.
