In this webinar, Carol Kando-Pineda from the Federal Trade Commission will teach you how to identify common signs of a scam and how to avoid falling for one, methods to help train patrons to avoid scams, and how to keep devices protected from online threats.

This discussion will look at the many numbers we gather, as well as fresh ways to flip those numbers into more compelling stories about library service.

This month, we will be discussing an anthology, Fools In Love: Fresh Twists on Romantic Tales edited by Ashley Herring Blake and Rebecca Podos.

Back to School: Best Practices for Promoting Brainfuse HelpNow

As the school year begins, it is the ideal time to promote Brainfuse HelpNow. Diane Bizzle, Director of Outreach, will provide a brief overview of the services within the Brainfuse HelpNow program focusing on the popular online homework help, writing lab, and practice tests.

Join us to learn about a new tech or web tool, and discuss how it might be used in a library setting. We’ll show a “library-ish” (i.e., might be useful to librarians) app and invite others to share their favorites.

Boardroom Series 2022: Making Numbers Count

This session brings another book into the boardroom series: "Making Numbers Count: The Art and Science of Communicating Numbers” by Chip Heath and Karla Starr (c2022). This discussion looks at how library boards can better communicate the cost of providing library service by flipping numbers into memorable stories.

Marketing Brainfuse to Job Seekers & Veterans in Your Community

Wednesday, August 31, 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Brainfuse’s goal is to connect people with questions to those with answers. It is often said that job hunting is one of the most difficult jobs you will have and navigating the VA can be overwhelming. Join Diane Bizzle, Director of Outreach, for an overview of JobNow and VetNow. Learn strategies for letting your community members know about the services offered for veterans and job seekers.

Join us for Virtual All Iowa Reads author visits

Invite your patrons to these fun, open to the public events!

At each event, the author will be joined by a moderator to discuss their books, creative process, and hear questions from attendees. Attendees will have the option to submit a question ahead of time when registering, or may include a question in the chat during the event. Reading the author’s All Iowa Reads title in advance is encouraged, but not required. The events will NOT be recorded.

These aren't for CE credit, but are sure to be a fun bonus for your book clubs and fans of the 2022 All Iowa Reads titles. Printable flyers, links to register, and more can be found on the State Library Website.
