Big C.E. Events ...

ILOC Conference This Month

The 16th annual ILOC Conference is only 2 weeks away.  If you haven't registered yet, there's no time like the present!  The acronym stands for Iowa Libraries Online Conference, coming up quickly on January 26th. The 2023 theme is “Productive Partnerships;” in fact, that will be the theme that carries us through this new year of education and training from the State Library.  ILOC is a day-long event with something for everyone, including an evening program for trustees.

Here are two great ways to take in ILOC.  First, make this full day of learning a "staff development day" so all staff can participate; have a staff meeting in the days following to compare notes on what everyone watched and learned.  In addition, you can arrange an ILOC "watch party" for that evening, encouraging your board members to gather at the library to watch the evening webinar as a group.  Because learning is more fun and effective whenever we can do it together

STEM Fairs and Summer Reading Summits in March

More big C.E. events are on the docket in March.  State Library staff will be conducting a 2-day continuing education event in each District in March.  The first day is a STEM Fair, the second day is a Summer Reading Summit.

The STEM Fairs are limited to 25 people, so register soon for those.  There is no limit for the Summer Reading Summits.  Read the full descriptions inside IALearns, then choose the dates and locations that best fit your schedule.

About NW District Office Hours

NW District Office Hours are informal gatherings in ZOOM, casual conversations as we talk about whatever issues are top-of-mind.  It's an ideal chance to pose questions of each other and share solutions that work for you.

And for newly hired directors, these sessions are a good networking opportunity--think of this as a virtual meet-and-greet with new colleagues.

Hoping to see many of you take up this opportunity for conversation and collaboration. Choose the dates above that work best for you and join your Northwest Iowa library colleagues in NW Office Hours!
