STEM Fairs and Summer Reading Summits!

Registration Is Now Open! 

Join us for these free, exciting youth events across Iowa! 

About the STEM Fairs: 

Our STEM Fairs will feature why STEM matters - and how you can implement STEM activities in your library! Whether you're already implementing STEM activities - or new to the concept - attendees can learn about new STEM offerings from local experts and view other STEM resources to expand your library’s STEM offerings. 

Space is limited for registering for the STEM Fairs. No lunch will be provided.

About the Summer Reading Summits: 

Get ready to network with other youth librarians during our interactive Summer Reading Summit! Youth Services Consultant Janeé Jackson-Doering will highlight best practices for Summer programming for ages 0-18. Attendees can learn about the Summer Slide, share ideas with other librarians, discuss Summer Reading scenarios, view crafts, books, and activities. and get geared up for summer. 

Please bring a program or craft idea to share with others. No lunch will be provided. Space is not limited for the Summer Reading Summits.

Register Now For Exploring The Shortlists

Wednesday, February 22 at 11:00 a.m.

This webinar will introduce you to the 2023 All Iowa Reads shortlists. You'll hear booktalks and read-alike selections for the short-listed books on the adult list from Leslie Heinzler and Jill Martinez, Co-Chairs of the Adult Selection Committee. Janeé Jackson-Doering, State Library Youth Services Consultant, will share for the kids and teen lists. Attendees will hear ideas for spotlighting these titles and the All Iowa Reads finalists in your library.

Call For Volunteers!

Get Involved with the Teen All Iowa Reads Selection Committee!

Are you looking for a way to get more involved professionally in 2023? Do you love reading and discussing YA books? Have you always wanted to be on a selection committee but don’t know where to start? This is your year!

We are currently looking for volunteers to serve on the Teen All Iowa Reads Selection committee.  The teen selection committee meets via Zoom and reads titles for ages 12-18 and votes on the next All Iowa Reads Teen selection.

All children need to see themselves in the pages of a book. We Need Diverse Books is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting diverse literature for all children. This website has a resource page for librarians, ideas on where to search for diverse books for youth, book lists, author interviews, and more!
