Learning Opportunities for Summer 2024

Summer 2024 will soon be underway - and we're gearing up for ways to help you plan for Read, Renew and Repeat!

New This Year:

 - Summer Reading Office Hours: State Library Consultant Janeé Jackson-Doering will offer Zoom office hours to help librarians plan and share ideas for Read, Renew and Repeat in December and January. These are not for CE credit.

 - Virtual Trainings: Our first "Early Bird" Summer Reading Planning Virtual Training will be held November 29 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. A version of this webinar will be repeated February 1.

 - Resource Guide/Graphics: The code and instructions to download the guide and graphics will be sent via email to your directors in the next couple of weeks.

Sumbit Your Ideas for iREAD 2025

The 2025 theme is "Level Up at Your Library!" which focuses on play! The iREAD Resource Guide Team is looking for craft ideas, programming ideas and more!

If you have a great craft, program or display idea, consider submitting your idea to the team! Submissions are due January 31, 2024. For questions, please email [email protected].

POP YS Live

Our monthly webinar series focuses on trends and best practices in services and programming for those working in Youth Services librarianship around the state. All webinars will be recorded.

November: Reader's Advisory for Kids and Teens
Wednesday, Nov. 8, 1:00 - 2:00 p.m.

For this installment of Pop YS Live, Janeé and a panel of practitioner experts will take you through the basics of RA for Youth Services - everything from nailing the ‘what should I read next?’ conversation to sources you should follow so you can recommend the latest and greatest titles to kids, teens, and their caregivers. We’ll also want to hear your tips and tricks in the chat!

December: Best Books of the Year
Wednesday, Nov. 8, 1:00 - 2:00 p.m.

Pop YS joins the “best of” bandwagon to showcase what we think are the best books we read this year. We’ll cover picture books, chapter books, teen titles, and of course, graphic novels. We’ll want to hear from you in chat as well! Did we nail it? Leave off an obvious choice? This fun, interactive session is sure to engage and who knows, maybe add to your YS collection.
