Friday Open Forum

Let's talk about how your summers went and catch up on all the changes around the district.  Join us to meet with fellow librarians and talk about what is going on at your library. Let me know if there is anything special you want to chat about.

Friday, September 15 9:00-10:00 (remember the new time!)

Next month: Oct. 20 9-10

Learning Circuits

I can't wait to see you all in Coralville at the end of the month. We’ll start our day learning about how we can discover and tap into those unique elements that make up our communities’ strengths with a “Community Asset Mapping” workshop. Later in the day, we’ll spend time fine-tuning our library networking pitch, so that wherever/whenever you run into a potential partner, you’re ready to go! We’ll have national experts Zoomed in to set up the topics for us, and I will be on hand to guide you through the hands-on workshop portions of the day. Your registration fee of $20 includes a continental breakfast and box lunch. Registration ends soon, so be sure to get this on your calendar!

Other News

I will be heading to Wichita for the annual Association for Rural and Small Libraries conference the week of September 18.  If you have questions during that time, you can call the general State Library number and they can get you in touch with another consultant. Or, send me an email and I'll answer when I get back.

If you weren't able to get to ARSL this year, watch for a recap from Iowa library attendees on October 24, titled Library Horizons: ARSL Conference.

And, I'll be at ILA (showing off my hometown!) the week of October 9.  Let me know if you want to chat while we are there. I'm happy to set aside time to check in with you. Hope to see you in Dubuque!

As well as Learning Circuits and conferences, there are lots of big continuing education events happening this year!  Keep an eye out for announcements about ILOC (the Iowa online conference) and Pop YS Con (our conference just for youth services librarians.)
